Healthy eating made easier
Nov 13, 2025
If eating more whole foods feels like a challenge during the week, here’s one thing that can make a huge difference: ingredient prepping.
This isn’t about spending your entire Sunday cooking — it’s about setting up a few building blocks that make eating well effortless, even on your busiest days.
When you prep ingredients, not full meals, you give yourself the flexibility to mix and match all week long.
Here’s what that might look like:
๐ฅฆ Prepare your veggies
Wash and chop vegetables you can use for salads, bowls, sheet-pan dinners, or stir-fries — think peppers, cucumbers, onions.
Stock up on ready-to-eat veggies like baby (or shredded) carrots and cherry tomatoes. Great for on-the-go or to top a salad or bowl.
Batch roast sweet potatoes, squash, or zucchini for easy toppings or a simple side.
๐ฅฉ Cook your protein
Grill, bake, or sauté a few servings of chicken, salmon, and other proteins you enjoy.
Hard-boil eggs for quick snacks or to top a salad or bowl.
๐ Batch-cook a whole grain
Make a pot of quinoa or rice to use as a base or topping for bowls and salads.
๐ฅฌ Keep greens on hand
Washed greens (spinach, arugula, kale, or spring mix) make it easy to throw together salads and bowls in minutes.
๐ Prep a dressing
Having a homemade dressing ready can make all the difference — plus it adds so much fresh flavor!
Try my favorite simple vinaigrette recipe (store in a mason jar for the whole week!):
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt (Redmond sea salt is my favorite)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly crushed black pepper finely ground
- 1 large garlic clove minced
- 1/4 cup vinegar (of your choice! I like Bragg apple cider vinegar)
- 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
๐ฐ Keep a variety of nuts and seeds in the pantry
Nuts and seeds are a simple way to add a variety of flavors and textures (plus blood sugar balancing protein, fat, and fiber) to each meal. Great for snacking, of course, too!
The goal isn’t perfection — it’s making the healthy choice the easy choice.
When you open your fridge and see colorful, ready-to-use ingredients, nourishing your body becomes second nature.
